My name is Nikki Starbird, My husband is Matt and we have two amazing daughters named Ari and Cheyenne. We are a small farm located in the western mountains of Maine. When the pandemic hit in 2020 we decided that we needed to be more sustainable and self sufficient. I am also immune compromised due to an illness that took my kidneys and led to a kidney transplant so we also wanted to make sure that we could know more about where our everyday products were coming from.
We started with goats so that we could have dairy items, help with clearing and maintaining our land and compost for our gardens. We also knew that we were going to use the milk to make soap for ourselves, but loved it so much we wanted to share with our community.
Then at the end of 2020 we decided to start looking into cows. This was a bigger endeavor, but with the help of friends and family it became a reality at the beginning of 2021. We got our first Belted Galloway Heifer, Jenny Bell, and then in the middle of the year we added our pregnant cow, Marissa and our steer Buddy. By the end of 2021 we will have 4 cows that will each provide for our family in different ways. They will also help provide for our growing business and our community.
As our business grows we intend to offer more products as well as locally available food items. We hope that you will follow our journey here and on facebook!
